Last night, while wrapping up some work, I remembered the game Universal Paperclip, in which gameplay relies on a simple interface but with a complicated resource balancing requirement underneath.
I pointed Claude at it, and asked it some questions related to the best strategies for completing the game quickly and efficiently. Then, on a whim, I provided 210 word prompt for a similar game based on the AI industry, and asked Claude what it should be called.
The result took a good ten minutes to emerge, but Singular Value is now in existence.
You can find it at https://singularvalue.org
Five minutes to write the prompt, and ten minutes for the model to respond. And half an hour of wrangling with nginx and cloudflared to get my webserver to serve up a lone index.html page.
Let me know what you think!

Here’s the prompt that generated this:
Could we write a similar web game based on AI development. Initially it’s about the number of nodes, then layers, then model training, GPUs, then optimizations like weights and bit representations, then agents come in, and so on. I’d like the first half of the game to use known AI and LLM concepts, then go weird. One of the aims should be to avoid consciousness. The advancements should initially use names of academics who published papers in the area, and cryptography and bitcoin should be brought in too. Then, as with universal paperclip it should start coming up with madeup names, and then with the names of AIs that invented further stuff which will be weird. The player is an AI that starts out as a simple neural network and expert learning system, but advances to become an agent, then some new thing. One of the steps should involve realizing that there’s a world outside computers and networks. The style should change, starting with something that looks like 80s computing (terminals in green), then 90s (windows or apple macintosh style), and so on, until today, then go on to be in some futuristic stle. The game should be implemented in Javascript so it can run in a standalone webpage.

whoo hoo, I made it to the Unwitnessed. Class, feeling very deity like! 👏👏
Your game just sucked in more than 2h of my day. Well played, Gandalf, well played
